College
English Language College was one of the first language schools in
Christchurch, founded in 1989. We are a small school set in the centre of
Christchurch. Our maximum roll is 60 students. There are no more than 10
students in a class. You will make friends with the other students very
quickly. You will learn English in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where
your teacher has time to help you personally with your studies.
At ELC we want you to be
able to choose a course of English study that suits you.
Study for a short time
or for almost 1 year.
Study morning and
afternoon or just the morning only.
It's up to you.
General English courses
start on Monday mornings.
There's a short test on your first day so we can place you in a class
that matches your ability. As you learn and gain confidence in your
English, you can go to a higher-level class and challenge yourself to do
your best. There are preparation classes for international English
exams such as IELTS and Cambridge First Certificate.
As well as
our General English courses you'll be able to choose some of the
optional courses that we have from time to time.
If you want to work in
New Zealand you can get a head start by taking the Working Holiday /
Business English optional course which teaches you the day-to-day
skills you need to live and work here.
New Course: English
and Volunteer Work
Study English for 4 weeks and then experience 2 week's volunteering in
either a NZ kindergarten or Rest Home for the elderly.
