COURSE INFORMATION

(a) Standard Course (Part-Time- Mornings) - Any Level

Course Content

A communicative course in general English, covering the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Course start dates

You may begin your course on any Monday (except public holidays). Choose any length of course from 4-48 weeks.

 

(b) Intensive Course (Full-Time, Mornings PLUS Afternoons)

(1) English Skills - Any level

Course content

Develops reading, writing and listening skills, with an emphasis on grammar and accuracy. Uses a variety of classroom-based learning situations.

Course start dates

Courses begin every Monday of the year (except public holidays). Choose any length of course from 4-12 weeks.

 

(2)Conversation and Pronunciation - Any Level

Course content

Develops listening and speaking skills, including pronunciation, with an emphasis on fluency and the use of practical spoken English. All the sounds used in spoken English are practiced, with work on intonation, stress and linking. Highly interactive and enjoyable. Students prepare for the New Zealand Speech Board Examinations.

Courses begin every Monday of the year (except public holidays). Choose any length of course from 4- 12 weeks.

 

(3)Writing Skills - Cambridge Preliminary Test - PET Lower Intermediate

Course content

Includes letter writing and an introduction to essay writing. Recommended for students who wish to go on to an Exam Preparation Course or further studies taught in English. This shows a basic competence in English.

Course start dates

You may begin your course on any Monday for 12 weeks (except public holidays).

 

(4) Introduction to Computers - Any Level

Course content

A competency based course that introduces the different aspects of the computer, and gives practice in those skills.

 

C) English For Special Purposes

(Examination fees are not included in any of the tuition fees. Please ask the school for examination entry procedures and examination fee details.

(1) English for Employment Purposes - Cambridge First Certificate in English - Upper Intermediate

Course content

The vocabulary, structure and practical application of English for the business world. Shows competence in English for employment.

30 Sept 2002, 6 Jan 2003, 14 Apr 2003, 14 July 2003, 6 Oct 2003

 

(2)TOEIC Examination- Intermediate

Course content

Preparation for the TOEIC. Includes review of exam techniques and study of sample exam papers.

Exam dates

The TOEIC exam may be taken at the school at the end of the course. Please ask the college for details.

Course length 8 weeks :

(3) IELTS Examination - Intermediate (General) Stage 1

Course content

Preparation for the IELTS Exam. Includes review of exam techniques and study of sample exam papers.

(4)English For Academic Purposes - Upper Intermediate-Advanced Stage 2

Course Content

Write Information Texts; Write Narrative Texts; Write Expressing A Viewpoint; Research Skills, including referencing skills. Includes IELTS Academic Preparation for the IELTS Exam. Includes review of exam techniques and study of sample exam papers

Start dates

30 Sep 2002, 6 Jan 2003, 17 Mar 2003, 2 June 2003, 11 Aug 2003, 13 Oct 2003

 

(d) Holidays/Activities Programme - Any level (Special conditions apply- Ask about this)

Course content

A combination of educational and cultural visits, sports activities, and a variety of classroom-based and out of school learning situations. - Suitable for Holiday Programme
