SCHOOL PROFILE AND SPECIAL FEATURES

The Queenstown Language School was established on the 19th April 1993 and is registered and fully recognised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

The Queenstown Language School is right in the centre of town and offers students convenience and an ambient and quiet environment for study.
The Queenstown Language School was awarded the prestigious TRADENZ EXPORT COMMENDATION in 1998 from the New Zealand Government.
Full time and Part time English Courses: Morning lessons concentrate on grammatical correctness, vocabulary, speaking and listening skills as well as reading and writing. Afternoon lessons concentrate on spoken skills, conversation and discussion activities.

It is a small, friendly school where we introduce students to life in New Zealand. There are regular events such as Barbecues, excursions and sports for all students.
With "Study and Ski/Snowboard" courses, students can study English in the mornings and enjoy Skiing or Snowboarding and using English with their teacher in the afternoon (Queenstown is only 25 minutes from the nearest ski field).
With "Study and Activity" course, students can study English in the morning and enjoy many exciting summer activities with their teacher in the afternoon.
Tourism work experience courses are now available.
Exam preparation available for IELTS, Cambridge, TOEFL and Pitmans.
Group Holiday programmes available. Queenstown offers many excellent activities and excursions and these courses are highly successful. Combination Christchurch and Queenstown programmes are a speciality.

Teachers are well qualified and come from various countries.
Students come from many Asian, European, Pacific and South American countries.
We offer courses in Japanese, Chinese, French, German, and Spanish. So students can study another language after mastering English.
We offer licence courses for Ski Instructor, Parapenting, Driving.
Counselling is available in many languages.

The Christchurch Language School was opened on 21st September 1998. The Christchurch Language school is situated right in the centre of the Garden City, Christchurch.

All course offered in Christchurch are the same as those offered in Queenstown including our famous Study &Ski/Snowboard and Study & Activity courses.

Students can transfer between the schools without extra enrolment fees and so can experience a small beautiful town and a big elegant city.

Course Information

General English: Full Time

English tuition 25 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:15pm-3:15pm.
Morning lessons concentrate on grammatical correctness, vocabulary, speaking and listening skills as well as reading and writing. Many texts are used and students are encouraged to speak as much as possible.
afternoon lessons concentrate on spoken skills, conversation and discussion activities. Games, tapes, videos and DVDs are used as well as situational activities. Speaking, speaking and more speaking!
Fees (per week):
2-12 weeks: $350
13-48 weeks: $320

General English: Part time

Morning course: 15 hours/week, Monday - Friday 9:00am -12:00pm
Class Content as for Full Time morning classes.
Afternoon course: 10 hours/week, Mon to Fri 1:15pm - 3:15pm.
Fee: $280 per week (Morning),
$180 per week. (Afternoon)

Study & Ski/Snowboard:

Tuition: 15 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9:00am-12:00pm. Monday-Friday pm Skiing/Snowboarding with the teacher at the local ski field. Please see the separate information sheet.
Duration 1 - 12 weeks, June - September
Fee: $620 per week (5 Afternoons at the ski area)
$520 per week (3 Afternoons at the ski area)
In Christchurch two full days per week at the ski area and three days full time study $550 per week.

Study & Activity:

Tuition: 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm
Activities: Monday-Friday every afternoon with the teacher. Please see the separate information sheet.
Duration 1 - 12 weeks January - March.
Fee: 1-12 weeks $500 per week

Exam Preparation:

Available for IELTS, Cambridge, TOEFL and Pitmans exams
IELTS preparation available all year in Christchurch and twice yearly in Queenstown.
Fee: $350 - $320 per week as for General English.

Study English and then gain valuable Work Experience at a New Zealand company.
Duration; minimum 4 weeks English Full Time or 6 weeks Part Time. Followed by Work Experience.
Fee: Placement Fee of $500 (conditions apply, please see separate information)

Study & Farm Experience:

After studying English at our schools, live and work on a New Zealand farm in exchange for accommodation.
A great New Zealand Experience.
Fee: Placement Fee of $200 for the first farm,
$100 for each extra farm (conditions apply, please see separate information)

Study & Scuba:

After English, learn to scuba dive or study for your professional license (See separate information)
Fee: Placement fee of $100

COMBO COURSE:

For students who wish to travel around New Zealand while studying. Choose any combination of four schools from our own Queenstown and Christchurch Language Schools as well as our partner schools; Worldwide School of English in Auckland, and New Horizon College of English in Napier. Study for a minimum of two weeks at 2, 3 or 4 schools. A great way to see New Zealand and study English.
Fee:
Full Time: $320 per week,
Part time: $280 per week. See separate information.

Registration and Accommodation Fees:

Registration: $200. (Paid only once)
Accommodation Placement: $120. (Paid only once, for finding a good family or placing students in our student apartments and counselling students throughout their accommodation).
Airport Pick Up: Free with homestay or apartment accommodation. $50 if required in Chch for transit students or in any other situations.
Homestay: QUEENSTOWN $200 per week - CHRISTCHURCH $190 per week. Part weeks at $30 per day.
Homestay fee includes breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday and all meals at the weekends. Students get own room, area to study, and adequate heating.
