 Orientation and Support Services
All students are given a detailed orientation pack upon arrival at RELA. This contains:

• Details of RELA’s support services, including the School Counsellor, the Homestay Counsellor and counsellors who can talk to a student in his/her own language

• Information on class levels
• Attendance and attendance warning policies
• The refunds policy
• Detailed information about school facilities and procedures
• Information about services and facilities available in Rotorua
• Information about making overseas telephone calls

New students are taken through an orientation programme soon after arrival at RELA (usually on their first day)

Important Information about RELA
Text Books and Activity Fees
Students buy their own text books. They can keep them or sell them back to the school for 2/3 of the price.
Friday afternoon activities – students who pay to study for 25 hours per week, get free entry into the Friday activities. 15 hour students may join the activity but they will need to pay from $0 to $20 for each activity they participate in.

Counsellors
Counsellors are available to deal with student problems. All speak the student’s own language.

• All fees are in $NZ and include 12.5% GST (NZ Tax)
• Tuition and accommodation fees must be paid in full before students begin their course
• Prices include counselling services
• Students are responsible for examination fees and travel to examination centres
• Students pay for their own optional recreational and social activities

Fees Protection Policy
Rotorua English Language Academy provides its students with protection against the loss of their fees in the event of insolvency, closure, voluntary withdrawal of a course by RELA or withdrawal of school accreditation.

The Academy protects student fees by depositing them in the Public Trust Trust Account system. This is a New Zealand Government guaranteed Student Fee Trust Account managed by the Public Trust, with progressive withdrawal of fees by the school during the student's course.

On arrival in New Zealand, the student is asked to sign an application to establish his or her Student Fee Trust Account.
